Rains LIVE updates: IMD issues Red Alert for several locations in Mumbai

In Mumbai weather turned pleasant on Tuesday (May 27, 2025) morning as light rain lashed parts of the city, and according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a generally cloudy sky with heavy rain is expected to continue. On Monday, Mumbai witnessed heavy rain, marking the onset of the monsoon.

South Mumbai recorded extremely heavy rainfall, with over 250 mm in just 13 hours ending at 11 am on Monday, officials said. Meanwhile, heavy downpours continued to wreak havoc in Kerala and Karanataka on Monday, severely disrupting normal life and forcing people to shift to relief camps and safer locations in many places. According to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Office, the intense monsoon has claimed four lives in the State so far. A red alert for coastal Karnataka will remain in force for the next five days, the IMD said.

Rain, thunderstorm, lightning and hailstorm are likely at several places in Himachal Pradesh from May 27, the local meteorological station said. The MeT office has issued an orange alert for thunderstorm, lightning and hail in Shimla, Kullu and Mandi districts on May 27 and 28 and in Kangra, Solan and Sirmaur districts on May 27
